MÜHLBACH AM HOCHKÖNIG
SUMMER
Of course, the fun doesn’t stop in summer, it just takes on a different form and is less snow-covered. In summer, the Hochkönig region changes into a world of charming mountain peaks and green alpine meadows. Most of the lifts are open during the summer and take you to all hiking trails on the Hochkönig Massif. Cycling and hiking tours, summer tobogganing, tennis games, climbing parks, petting zoos and much, much more are now on offer. Another special feature is that the Chalét lies directly on the popular hiking bus route. This can be used free of charge with the Hochkönig Card and connects the Arthurhaus with Maria Alm. The “Grünholz” stop is right on your doorstep. From there you can travel quickly and easily all over the entire Hochkönig Massif.
HIKING
HOCHKÖNIG-MASSIF
Many hiking trails with different levels of difficulty start in the immediate vicinity of the Chalét. Equally special is the children’s hiking trail with play equipment along the route, which starts directly at the Karbachalm (20 minutes by car from the Chalét). We recommend the “Majestic Long Distance Hiking Trail” to the experienced among you. Over a total length of 73 kilometres, you will take many lasting memories of the natural surroundings home with you. The hiking route to the “Matrashaus” at 2,941 meters is also a very special highlight in the region.
BIKE, MOUNTAINBIKE
OUTDOOR POOL & GOLF
There are also many marked bike / mountain bike trails in the Hochkönig resort. Local guides organise tours. There is a bike shop in Mühlbach, where you can rent bikes. Mühlbach and Maria Alm have an outdoor pool (including a baby pool with a small slide). The Therme Amadé is a good half hour from the Chalét. There you will find a pool and sauna in an area of over 30,000 square metres. Golfers are also catered for. On a plateau in Maria Alm you will find one of the finest golf courses in the Alps – the Urslautal golf course. There is a second golf course in Sankt Johann in Pongau. Both golf courses have 18 holes and a driving range.
FAMILY
FRIENDLY
You can also take the Karbachalm cable car to quickly get to the “Tonis Almspielplatz” playground, which has water and sand play equipment, a climbing tower, a slide and a children’s hiking trail that is also suitable for prams. In Saalfelden, half an hour from the chalet, there is a 1.6 km long, 61-bend summer toboggan run. “The Ghost Mountain” is about half an hour from the Chalét by car. After a short ride by cable lift, families will find water features, climbing frames, swings, slides and much more.
HAPPINESS
INCLUDED
For those of you who are looking for an adrenaline rush, there are various white water rafting tours. Especially in summer, when the snow melts and the rivers in the region carry a lot of water, this offers a very special experience (e.g. Salzbach river; 45 minutes from the lodge). The “Lichtsteinklamm” gorge near St. Johann in Pongau has channelled its way through the rock and left behind one of the most beautiful and deepest white water gorges in the Alps. The “Großglöckner alpine path” is indisputably one of the most beautiful routes in the world and can be used from May to October. During the 48-kilometre route, you rarely lose sight of the Grossglockner.
